Solar Lawn Truck Earns Landscape Industry Award for Innovation
The Solar Lawn Truck from Super Lawn Technologies has received a 2019 Editor’s Choice Award from Green Industry Pros magazine, a landscaping industry publication with nationwide circulation. The award recognizes products based on several factors including innovation, utility for the landscape market, and audience engagement at GreenIndustryPros.com.
“We’re extremely proud to have received this award,” says Tony Bass, founder and president of Super Lawn Technologies. “We believe that battery-powered lawn equipment will permanently and positively change the landscaping industry. The Solar Lawn Truck was invented to help landscaping professionals begin making that change themselves. Winning this award is proof that there is strong interest in this technology.”
There is also strong case study data proving that solar and battery power can help landscape companies save time and money. For the past two years, eight landscape companies from around the country have been testing the Solar Lawn Truck equipped with a full arsenal of Greenworks Commercial battery-powered lawn equipment. These beta-testers have continually reported a reduction in equipment noise, emissions and operating costs—without a dip in crew productivity.
The Solar Lawn Truck is a big reason why landscape companies have been able to efficiently make the switch to battery. The Solar Lawn Truck helps landscape companies address their biggest concern: batteries going dead on the job. Solar panels are affixed to the top of the truck, harnessing the sun’s rays to provide the necessary energy to recharge batteries right on the truck.
The Solar Lawn Truck also has all of the productivity-enhancing features of the traditional Super Lawn Truck, such as on-board fueling, built-in tool storage and a built-in loading ramp. Additionally, the enclosed truck bed eliminates the need to pull a trailer, while also providing secure equipment storage and free advertising on the sides of the truck.
Bass has become such a believer in battery-powered lawn equipment that his company has recently become a Greenworks Commercial dealer. This gives landscape companies the option of starting slowly with battery-powered equipment by purchasing tools individually from Super Lawn Technologies. The Greenworks Commercial line includes string trimmers, hedgetrimmers, edgers, chainsaws, pole saws, blowers and mowers.
Super Lawn Technologies is also continuing to market the Solar Lawn Truck/Greenworks Commercial package for those landscape companies that want to go “all in” and begin reaping the benefits of cleaner, cheaper energy sources. The company continues to look for additional beta-testers. A two-week test drive is also available.
The second generation of the Solar Lawn Truck has been introduced this year. This new version is designed with the capability of charging larger equipment such as zero-turn riding mowers and stand-on mowers. This recent development gives landscape maintenance companies the ability to completely rid their fleets of gas-powered equipment.
“We are determined to make mobile solar-powered charging for battery-powered lawn equipment as reliable, affordable and easy to use as possible,” Bass says. “Landscape companies are fed up with the high cost of gas-powered equipment, not to mention the corrosive effects of ethanol-blended fuels on small engines. The solar/battery approach is giving companies a viable alternative, and it is helping to re-energize the landscaping industry.”
